On July 26, 2018, the Central Sierra Economic Development District held an Economic Development Summit and Workshop. Nearly eighty county officials, industry champions and economic development pioneers gathered from the Central Sierra's affiliate counties to discuss some of the largest challenges the region faces.
Summit presenters included Kim Dolbow Vann, USDA California State Director; Gurbax Sahota, President & CEO of the California Association for Local Economic Development (CALED); Rich Gordon, President & CEO of the California Forestry Association (Calforests); and Barbara Hayes, Chief Economic Development Officer for the Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC).
In the afternoon, participants split up into working groups to identify and deliberate the regions largest economic development barriers. Barriers addressed included Workforce Housing, Training a Qualified Workforce, Infrastructure, Broadband and Transportation.
